We are seeking an experienced Advanced Cardiac Physiologist to join our forward-thinking Cardiology team. The role encompasses CRM and catheter lab services, supporting a wide range of devices including pacemakers, CRTs, ICDs, S-ICDs, Micras, and conduction system pacing. The post holder will assist with complex implants, perform device follow-up, and contribute to service development. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong clinical, technical, and leadership skills while driving innovation and delivering high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership in cardiac rhythm management service including remote monitoring services, working alongside other physiologist leads to ensure delivery of a quality clinical service.
The role involves supervision and training of junior members of the team, and wider training of other staff groups as required.
You will be expected to refresh and extend your own clinical skills and partake in service development and research within the trust.
Working over South Warwickshire NHS foundation trust, predominantly based at the Warwick site.

Essential
- Sound knowledge of invasive cardiology with competency in simple/complex device implants and diagnostic catheters
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- To interpret and make judgements on all tests which may alter a patients treatment or management as an Independent Practitioner
- Ability to make judgements on patients welfare and compare a range of options which may include addition investigations, discontinuation of a test or admittance to hospital
- Ability to write clear test reports as an independent practitioner for routine and complex procedures
- To review and make judgements on test results that have been carried out by other members of staff
- Ability to provide a range of complex facts, analysis and interpretation of all areas within the cardiology discipline
- To use advanced analytical and judgemental skills with regards to national and local policies
- Advanced skills in the provision of complex facts, analyses and interpretation
- Ability to prioritise all patient investigations
- Awareness of when to escalate adverse findings to Cardiology outreach in accordance with departmental protocol.
- Adaptable to varying working environments and conditions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time during complex cases.
- Demonstration of leadership and negotiation skills with patients, carers, wards staff and other professions allied to medicine.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels in person and on the telephone
- To prepare and tabulate data for presentation using Microsoft Excel and other relevant programmes/packages to the department on a monthly basis, if required
- Excellent word processing and IT skills
- Evidence of involvement in recent research and development.
Experience
Essential
- High level of specialist knowledge in areas of non-invasive cardiology, equivalent to that of master’s level
- Extensive experience in physiological investigations
- Extensive relevant experience for cardiac rhythm management including remote monitoring service and general physiological measurements experience
- Demonstrate competency to lead in ECG, ETT, Ambulatory Monitoring, pacing and complex device follow-up
- Experience in staff teaching/mentoring
Desirable
- Experience in staff management
- Experience in performing appraisals
- Experience in service development
Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or equivalent
- Intermediate Life Support Skills
- Heart Research UK or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners in Devices or Electrophysiology
- Advanced Life Support
- RCCP or equivalent registration
- Post grad Studies in relevant field
Desirable
- Teaching certificate/ Assessors Award
