We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our Community Occupational Therapy Team as a Band 6 Adult Social Care Occupational Therapist based in Newcastle Under Lyme, Leek and the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The Team supports adults within their own homes where the primary need is physical disability with long-term health conditions. The aim of OT intervention is to assist people to remain as independent as possible in the community and is an extremely rewarding role.
You will work autonomously and carry your own caseload of patients and be part of our wider team of experienced Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, Assistants and Administrative support workers to provide multidisciplinary services to adults with a range of conditions.

This is a full-time role; however, part time applicants are welcome to apply.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel over a large geographical area.
Main duties of the job
You would benefit from having worked in a Social Care Occupational Therapy role previously or have relevant experience and transferrable skills from a community setting.
As part of this role, you will be required to:
- Use professional knowledge and judgement to consider the range of care/support packages and treatment options available. To consider each service user’s personal circumstances and preferences to implement and adjust programmes of care and intervention.
- Take accountability for allocated assessments, planning and implementation of care packages/ programmes of support, within their caseload.
- Have knowledge of Moving and Handling people, specialist equipment, minor adaptation provision and assistive technology would be beneficial.
- Have people management skills which incorporate compassionate and appreciative leadership.

Training
Essential
- Post qualification courses in working with older people and people with physical disabilities
- Attendance at relevant networks e.g. Special Interest Groups
- Up to date field work/pre-registration student training
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in occupational therapy or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Fieldwork educator’s accreditation.
Desirable
- Modules at Masters level
- Evidence of further clinical study
- Leadership experience/qualification
- Membership of BAOT/COT
Work Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience to the role including assessment and interventions for a wide range of disabilities
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively
- Working in a multidisciplinary team
- Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impact of disability and life limiting conditions
Desirable
- Experience of using standardised assessments and outcome measures
- Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations
