Healthcare Support Worker – Inpatient Unit

ACCORD Hospice is looking for additional Healthcare Support Workers to join our IPU team at ACCORD Hospice. Your main duties will be to assist the nursing staff in a range of patient care duties within our eight bedded inpatient unit. See Job description for more details.

Hours: Opportunities for bank work and permanent part time hours

Salary: Band 2 – starting £25,694 pro rata

Location: ACCORD Hospice, Paisley Reports to: In-Patient Unit Manager

Main duties of the role

  • Assist trained nursing staff in a range of patient care duties.
  • Observe patient’s general condition in line with care plan.
  • Assist with day-to-day administration related to patient care.
  • Report patient information / condition to Trained Nursing Staff.
  • Working with the wider team in the provision of care, social and recreational activities for patients and carers.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.

What we are looking for

  • Experience in providing personal care and support within a health or social care setting
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion, dignity, respect and empathy
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to follow instructions
  • Willingness to work within a specialist palliative care setting, with people who need end of life care and support
  • Ability to deal with frequent exposure to emotional circumstances
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Good observation skill and ability to report back promptly and accurately
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
