Main duties of the job
To provide high quality clinical advice on the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients at BHNFT who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties, voice difficulties or head and neck cancer.
This could include those with complex needs, ENT outpatient clinics and inpatient critical care
- To provide support, education and advice to more junior SLTs, Assistants, nursing and AHP colleagues specifically in relation to patients with communication and swallowing difficulties and to ensure adequate access to the service is maintained for this client group.
- To follow and contribute to the development of departmental policies/guidelines and to participate in the development of innovations in service delivery taking account of clinical governance.

- Proven post graduate SLT experience providing assessment, diagnosis and management to adults with swallowing and communication disorders
- Proven awareness and experience of the requirement for excellence in clinical record keeping
- Experience in working autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Experience in working in a Multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Previous experience working on acute wards
- Previous experience working with adults who have had a stroke
- Previous experience coordinating the work of others
- Previous experience with head and neck cancer and voice patients
