244316 Trainee Clinical Cardiac Scientist – Scientist Training Programme

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

To train to perform a wide range of specialist cardiac physiology investigations including 12-lead ECG, 24hr Ambulatory ECG, Exercise Testing, Echocardiography and Cardiac Rhythm Management. This will initially be with supervision and then unsupervised after training has been provided.

To be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team in the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab and participate in the on-call service for Primary PPCI.

To complete the Scientific Training Programme and register as a Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The post holder will train in Transthoracic Echocardiography, working towards British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation.
