Would you like to be involved in the Women and Children’s Pharmacy Team within NHS Lanarkshire?
University Hospital Wishaw has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join the team providing services to neonatal and maternity patients. You will work within the multidisciplinary clinical teams attending daily ward rounds and providing pharmaceutical advice and support to patients and carers. This role will allow you to develop your prescribing and clinical skills within a specialist patient group, concentrating on medicines governance and implementing guidance to ensure safe prescribing practices. Provision of education and training is critical to the role and includes pharmacy staff, EL students, foundation year trainees, medical, nursing and ANP. There will also be opportunity to provide pharmacy cover to the Paediatric Wards.
It is essential that you have a Master of Pharmacy Degree and are a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council. You should have experience in providing hospital clinical pharmacy services and be signed off to undertake the prescribing course if not already a prescriber. Experience within this speciality is not essential as full training will be provided. You will require good clinical knowledge and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Masters of Pharmacy Degree
Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
Independent prescribing qualification or must work towards
Evidence of postgraduate training and professional development in clinical pharmacy practice e.g. Post Registration Foundation Framework/ 1st year clinical diploma
Relevant post registration experience in clinical pharmacy.
Ability to effectively monitor patients’ therapeutic regimens in order to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, in a pharmacy and multi-disciplinary environment.
Commitment to revalidation as per directions of General Pharmaceutical Council
Good verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivation
Participation in weekends and public holiday service
Participation in pharmacy emergency duty service
Willingness to contribute to the general working of the pharmacy department.
Relevant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy
Demonstrable experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to a defined patient group
Experience in patient information/education
Experience in supervising staff
Clinical pharmacy/care planning knowledge and understanding
Proven project, practice research and audit skills
Ability to prioritise and organise workload
