An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adult registered nurse with full NMC registration, to work as a Band 6 Sister on the Gynaecology Inpatient Ward. This is a 37.5 hours permanent contract.

We are seeking a well-motivated, enthusiastic individual who will provide a comprehensive nursing service for patients accessing Gynaecology services whilst ensuring safe, effective and high standards of care.

You will take a lead in the co-ordination, planning and delivery of individual care provided by the multi-disciplinary team; ensuring effective management in the absence of the Lead Nurse.

You will be a 1st level registered Nurse with preferred experience within speciality. You will be educated to diploma level or above and have evidence of relevant post registration education and development, together with a recognised mentorship course

You will possess good communication, organisational and numerical skills, you will have the ability to organise your own work load and have the ability to support other members of the team, as well as being methodical whilst paying attention to detail

Knowledge of Infection Control, Health and Safety, Risk Management and the NHS nursing agenda is essential

You must have the ability to work as part of a team and have effective decision-making skills

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership to staff, providing evidenced-based nursing care to ensure the provision of a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting in driving forward the provision of quality care.

Contribute to the development and line management of other delegated staff members.

Work collaboratively with other members of the MDT to meet the needs of patients and families.

You will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients across a diverse range of clinical needs, including:

Delivering comprehensive post-operative care, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal recovery

Providing sensitive and holistic palliative and end-of-life care, supporting patients and their families

Managing and caring for patients with a wide range of conditions

Supporting patients and families during emotionally challenging situations, including the delivery of difficult or life-changing news

Delivering early pregnancy care, including the assessment and management of pregnancy loss

Supporting and caring for patients undergoing termination of pregnancy, ensuring dignity, respect, and non-judgmental care

Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to work in sensitive and challenging situations.

You will carry out duties according to both local and national policies, procedures and guidelines, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence-based practice.
