Job summary

Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We are innovative and forward-thinking and have invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is noted to be very friendly, and is constantly looking to develop and expand. This is an exciting time at Barnsley Hospital with the recent implementation of electronic prescribing bringing excellent opportunities for further innovation and service development.

If you are looking for an exciting new challenge, we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward-thinking registered pharmacy technician to take on the role of Band 4 Rotational Pharmacy Technician. Rotations will include: Inpatient and Outpatient dispensaries, Aseptics and ward-based Medicines Management Services.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for carrying out a range of Technical duties in specified areas of the department. Opportunities will be available to support and develop your career pathway. The department has a strong Quality Improvement ethos and you will have the opportunity to become involved in a variety of QI projects. This is a really exciting time to be joining our dispensary team as we develop ways of further integrating with our patient facing clinical colleagues.

This post is full-time and your contracted hours will be worked over 5 days, including participation in the weekend, late night, and bank holiday rotas. Previous experience of working in a hospital is preferred, but not essential.

We welcome applications from newly qualified pharmacy technicians as well as those who are currently completing an accredited Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician course and are expected to achieve General Pharmaceutical Council GPhC registration in the coming months. Any offer of employment will be subject to successful registration with the GPhC.
