An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced nurse to step into the role of Band 7 Ward Sister / Charge Nurse on Women’s Health Ward at UCLH.

The post is for a fixed term 12 month cover

T7 South is a 17 bedded Women’s Health Ward caring for acute and elective surgical patients. We are dedicated to delivering specialist care to breast and gynaecology patients as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. We are looking for a passionate, forward-thinking, and inspirational leader with exceptional clinical skills to lead and manage our dedicated nursing team.

Main duties of the job

  • Line management of a team of nurses

Able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, provide support and direction to the nursing team

  • Co-ordination of ward and nursing team and ensuring to the smooth running of ward
  • Ensuring safe, kind and compassionate care for our patients
  • Maintaining safe staffing levels
  • Dealing with patient queries arising throughout the day in the department and liaising with medical teams and appropriate escalation
  • Demonstrating good communication skills with colleagues, patients and carers
  • Being open to change in the department and learning new skills as needed
  • Demonstrating teamwork by being flexible and building good working relationships with colleagues
  • Working collaboratively to improve pathways
  • Ensuring education and competency of the nursing team.
