If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Ward Manager to join our elective / Non elective Orthopaedic ward at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
You will be working in a busy adult orthopaedic ward, which provides both elective and non-elective care to our orthopaedic patients The orthopaedic service at STSFT currently has 2 wards at SRH D43 (non-elective orthopaedic admission unit) and D48 (a mixed orthopaedic trauma and elective unit), as well as 1 ward at STDH. There is also a dedicated Fracture Clinic at SRH.
The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse with a background specialised in Orthopaedics or another surgical speciality, with proven leadership skills and the vision and passion to help develop the service and optimise high quality patient care. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered, ensure the efficient running of the ward, effectively leading, motivating, supervising and directing staff to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork.
This is a demanding but very rewarding role with a Trust that is committed to the ongoing development of its staff.
The Ward Manager will be required to co-ordinate all functions and activities within this specialist clinical environment. The role includes working closely with the Orthopaedic and Orthogeriatric Consultants, colleagues in our other Orthopaedic wards and departments, ED, Theatres, and other services throughout the Trust. The Ward Manager, working alongside the Matron and a full complement of Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants and ward administration support, will provide strong leadership and foster excellent communication, teamwork and collaboration with all colleagues, in order to consistently deliver excellent patient care to all service users.
