As a Housekeeper you will be responsible for working as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Paediatric Intensive Care Team to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
You must be dedicated, flexible, enthusiastic and able to work in a team whilst upholding high standards within the unit.
You will support with day to day operations whilst abiding by Trust policy and procedures.

Main duties of the job
The housekeeper is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and organised environment for critically ill children and their families.
The daily role will include:
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment with general housekeeping
- Tidying and stocking up throughout the unit
- Organisation of equipment
- Organizing linen
- Maintaining high cleanliness standards, including cleaning, disinfecting of bedspaces and equipment
- Setting up of bedspaces for admissions
- Assisting with food service with the ordering and collection of meals
- Ensuring equipment is in good working order and reporting any faults
- Support qualified staff in adhering to Infection Control policies and procedures and assist in any other necessary duties to maintain high standards of cleanliness
- Answering the unit telephone and taking massages
- May undertake administrative duties as required
- Maintain confidentiality of children and their families at all times

- Be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Ward / Department to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
- Report any concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the qualified nurse.
- Maintain patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
- Report to the Nurse in Charge any issues that may prevent cleaning or compromise the safety of the environment.
- Actively contribute to the provision of nutrition of the patients on the Ward / Department.
- May undertake administrative and clinical duties as required.
- To abide by Trust policies and procedures.
