Job overview

We are looking for an organised and compassionate individual to join our team as a Ward Clerk at Royal Cornwall Hospital. This role is essential in supporting the smooth running of our wards and ensuring patients receive the best possible care. You will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, providing a friendly and professional service at all times.

As a Ward Clerk, you will manage administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records, handling telephone enquiries, and coordinating communication between clinical teams. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a busy environment are key, as you will play an important role in keeping the ward efficient and well-organised.

This role has been approved for advertising; however, it is also being assessed as a suitable alternative employment opportunity. As a result, the vacancy may be withdrawn or there may be a delay before shortlisting can begin.

This role is open to all applicants. However, in line with Cornwall First recruitment principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and a commitment to delivering high standards of service. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

If you are passionate about supporting patient care and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team, we would love to hear from you. Apply today and help us make a difference at Royal Cornwall Hospital.
