We are a well-established Day Unit with a highly motivated and supportive team. Patients here undergo Plastic or Orthopaedic Surgery on a Day Case basis. We also work with the Chronic Pain Team on a regular basis. We are looking for someone to join the team as a Band 2 Ward Clerk.

Main duties of the job

This is a key role within the team involving all aspects of administrative work from reception/telephone duties to preparation of patient documentation for admission, ensuring the smooth running of the service. As a valued member of the team, you will benefit from working in a supportive environment, attending regular staff meetings with the opportunity for development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensures case notes, investigations, X-rays and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
