Volunteer to Career Admin Support, Speciality Medicine, Cumberland Infirmary

This is an opportunity to join the Volunteer to Career programme as Admin Support where you will be volunteering within the Speciality Medicine Collaborative, which provides services throughout Cumbria in a number of varied clinical settings.

The Volunteer to Career Programme enables you to complete essential mandatory training and a requirement to also complete 60 hours (approx. 4 hours per week) within Speciality Medicine at the Cumberland Infirmary.  On successful completion of this programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank register as a Casual Admin Officer.

What is the Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme?

The programme provides volunteers with training and support to transition into a career within the NHS.    It allows individuals to gain valuable experience and essential transferable skills.

The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and this therefore only open to applicants who reside in the Cumberland Council boundary.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Manager with general administration, which may include:

  • Data Input
  • Filing
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Liaising with departments/staff/other organisations
  • Discharge Summaries
  • Going to collect items from other departments when required.
  • Other administrative tasks relevant to the individual department following instruction/training i.e. typing.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

  • youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
  • the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.
