The successful Ultrasound Sonographer post holder will have responsibility for the provision of high quality Ultrasound scans within the imaging department .

As a Ultrasound Sonographer will ensure and maintain a high personal standard of clinical excellence, be required to attend training and train other staff as and when required.

All candidates will be required to participate in  rotation at different sites.

Main duties of the job

To accurately perform and report on scans in a timely manner and as directed by the Consultant radiologists and Head of Imaging.

To ensure at all times that the ultrasound equipment is used safely

To achieve high levels of diagnostic outcomes by using experience, knowledge and clinical expertise within scope of practice

To work in the department and on mobiles as required and to promote the maintenance of an efficient, effective and high quality service for all users

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be aware of the confidential nature of the work and maintain strictest confidence when dealing with patients, staff and other health service business information.

To train and supervise the clinical work/assessment of qualified and junior/student staff

To fulfil CPD commitments, including identifying personal career development needs, and provide evidence when required in order to achieve the Link grade.

Participate in any departmental lead roles.

To take part in improving and encouraging good working practices and to investigate efficient and improved ways of working with staff and Lead Consultant Radiologists.

To ensure that equipment is appropriately and routinely Quality checked with corrective action instigated, working in conjunction with the clinical lead.

To actively assist in any Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Audit programmes as required.

To deal with members of the public with courtesy and professionalism.

To respect the right to privacy and confidentiality of the patients attending for Ultrasound scans.
