We require registrar grade Resident Doctors to work in the medical Same Day Emergency Care Medicine Department at Gloucestershire Royal & Cheltenham General Hospital. Post-holders will rotate between both sites. These posts are not recognised for training but will offer a good experience in general and acute medicine. The posts are initially for 12 months. These posts offer excellent experience within the medical same day emergency department on both sites, seeing patients with a variety of presentations. A normal working day is expected to be 9-5. These posts are very suitable for resident doctors who have completed IMT training and are considering or have already been taking a career break (e.g., to go travelling) before joining a formal specialist training programme. You will be given a protected 1 day a month to pursue another interest e.g. specialty clinics etc. You will also have a half day per week for non-clinical work such as QI, audit to improve the SDEC and to further your career development.
Out of Hours Work & Weekend Work There would be an expectation to undertake out of hours and weekend work. This is likely to average out with 1 long day a week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks. Normal days will be 9-5, with some days from 11-7. There will not be any night shifts, making this an attractive option for those looking for a better work– life balance.
