Applicants are invited for one Trust Grade post within the Department of Infectious Diseases and OPAT at Nottingham University Hospitals..
The Infectious Diseases and OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy) Department is based at the City Campus. At City Campus there is a 13 bed, dedicated Infectious Disease Ward, which has seven en-suite side rooms, five with monitored, negative pressure ventilation. Patients are admitted from the emergency medical admission wards, transferred from other departments within the Trust, or other hospitals within the region. Patients with a wide range of infections are seen including HIV, tuberculosis, returned travellers, community and hospital acquired infections, and pyrexia of unknown origin. Duties in Infectious Diseases include contributions to an outpatient clinic, inpatient care and out of hours on call. For the OPAT service there will be review of patients in the Intravenous Infusion Centre, review via virtual ward rounds and face to face in clinic. There will be liaison with a wide variety of specialties.
The successful applicant will be provided with training and educational opportunities, tailored to meet individual needs. Where service provision allows, successful applicants are encouraged to attend educational teaching sessions. For interested individuals there will be an opportunity to contribute to audit. Post holders will be expected to keep themselves up to date with current knowledge and practice, to attend clinical meetings within departments and to participate in audit and in service training of other professionals.
