An opportunity has arisen for a Trust Fellow in Paediatric Heart Failure and Transplantation at ST4+ level at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

The successful candidate will be working in the Transplant and Heart Failure Team and will have the opportunity for training and experience in this specialty. They will be expected to participate in provision of after hours cover for paediatric cardiology. Candidates must be registered with the GMC at the time of application and if not are strongly encouraged to apply in advance of application due to the recent changes in GMC registration procedures.  Candidates wanting experience for paediatrics with an expertise in cardiology are welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Management of children with heart failure and transplantation on the ward and in clinic. Will also involve out of hours cover in general cardiology.
  • Audit and related research where possible
  • Presentation at team meetings
  • Echocardiography

Key working relationships

Internal: Cardiothoracic team

External: Families, referring doctors

Main duties and responsibilities:

Provide middle grade cover for the transplant and heart failure teams. Join in ward rounds and clinics.

  • ·         Echocardiography of inpatients.
  • ·         Analysis of ambulatory monitoring e.g. blood pressure.
  • ·         Liaison with GP’s and referring doctors.
  • ·         Audit and possible related research e.g. published audit.
