
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trust Fellow (ST3+) in the Department of Urology based at the Freeman Hospital.
This post is available from 1 September 2026 for 12 months.
The post holder will undertake clinical duties within the Department of Urology. In particular, the post-holder will support provision of local anaesthetic flexible cystoscopy and botox, delivering 3 sessions of this service per week. Other key duties will focus of supporting audit and research within the department. There will be ample opportunity for theatre sessions.
The individual will work closely with consultant trainers and take part in the emergency on-call rota. In addition, they will be expected to undertake clinical research with the aim of presenting and publishing their work. There is ample opportunity to do teaching and audits and develop portfolio for Higher Urological Training.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The post holder will be an active member of the Urology team.
The post is both New Deal and EWTD compliant.
DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION:
The Department of Urology at The Freeman Hospital is one of the largest departments in the UK and provides a comprehensive regional service to over 2 million people based on a hub and spoke model.
There are currently 22 Consultant Urologists based at the Freeman Hospital including a 2 Professors. There are 4 operating theatres dedicated to urology as well as 3 inpatient wards (80 beds) and a urology clinic providing diagnostic services. 8 SpRs support the resident doctors and a team ethic is strongly encouraged. All aspects of adult urological surgery are undertaken including robot assisted surgery, transplantation, lithotripsy and brachytherapy. There is a large laparoscopic surgery programme.
Flexibility:
In line with the Trust’s core value of placing patients at the heart of everything we do, we are developing our service provision to be responsive to the needs of our patients. To meet those needs some staff groups will be increasingly asked to work a more flexible work pattern so that they can offer services in the evening or weekend. As a result any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern or working in the future if required, including evening and weekend work.
