This is an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience of Endocrinology in the unique and supportive environment of Great Ormond Street Hospital.   As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the units and will be offered study leave.  Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will also be encouraged.

We are looking for 1 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Trust Doctor to join the Endocrinology Department. This post is available to start in March 2026 for 6 months on a fixed term basis. There may be the possibility of extension beyond this.

The post will provide an excellent experience for someone wishing to train in Paediatric Endocrinology. Previous experience in General Paediatrics/ Neonates at senior house officer/ ST1+ equivalent (i.e. completed at least 1 year of dedicated paediatric training) is essential, ideally in the UK. We will not consider applicants who do not fulfill the above criteria. The post is not recognised for training.

The post holder will work as part of a team covering the clinical aspects and day-to day running of the Endocrinology services during the day time Monday to Friday.  Out of hours, the post holder will be covering long days (Endocrinology), weekends (as part of a Medical Specialities rota), as well as night on call commitments as part of a Hospital at Night team.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

  • Work in collaboration with the Endocrine team and Consultants and act as a liaison point for the day to day management of patients with endocrine conditions.
  • Provide support to local hospital teams as needed and to liaise with the Endocrine SpRs and consultant on call about management issues.
  • To organise inpatient admissions as needed.
  • Daily review of endocrine inpatients on Kingfisher and Squirrel wards and any outlier consultations on other wards.
  • Presentation at Grand Round of patients admitted for investigation and interpretation of their results.
  • Carrying out ward duties as discussed on ward round.
  • Liaising with parents.
  • Attend outpatient endocrine clinics.
  • Opportunities to present cases at regional meetings.
  • Allocated management roles in coordinating national/ regional/ departmental MDT meetings, quality improvement and clinical governance.
