Trust Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
(Special Interest: Pelvic Pain & Endometriosis)
The Royal London Hospital Fixed Term: 6–12 months | Senior O&G Level (ST5–ST7 equivalent)
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a motivated senior doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join the BSGE‑accredited Endometriosis Centre at the Royal London Hospital. This post offers a rare opportunity to work within a highly specialised multidisciplinary team that delivers complex pelvic pain and endometriosis care. The role combines clinical responsibilities across obstetrics and gynaecology, with significant exposure to advanced laparoscopic surgery, specialist clinics and tertiary‑level care.
The successful applicant will contribute to the management of patients with complex pelvic pain under senior supervision and will be involved in theatre activity, where there are extensive opportunities to develop advanced minimal access surgical skills. Responsibilities also include assisting with theatre list preparation, supporting maintenance of the endometriosis centre database, and participating in endometriosis and complex gynaecology clinics. The post‑holder will take part in the senior on‑call rota for both obstetrics and gynaecology and will be expected to contribute to audit, quality improvement, MDT meetings, research, and guideline development.
The trust offers strong support for professional development, including opportunities to undertake ATSM or SITM modules, guidance for the CESR pathway, structured leadership development through the Barts Health Education Academy and involvement in academic, audit and research activity. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to enhance their laparoscopic skills and develop experience in specialist pelvic pain and endometriosis management.
Applicants must have senior O&G experience equivalent to ST5–ST7 or post‑CCT level and must hold full GMC registration. They should have intermediate laparoscopic skills, at least twelve months of NHS O&G experience and the ability to work safely within a busy tertiary unit. Strong communication, organisational ability and commitment to team‑based, high‑quality care are essential. Experience in gynaecology ultrasound, research activity, publications, simulation teaching or MDT leadership would be advantageous but is not required.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced skills in pelvic pain and endometriosis within one of the UK’s leading specialist centres. The successful applicant will join a supportive and diverse team committed to delivering outstanding, compassionate care and advancing clinical practice in women’s health.
