Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Retina Clinical Fellow to join the Ophthalmology team. The post offers valuable experience through specialist outpatient clinics and participation in a cataract theatre list. The successful candidate will work predominantly within the Macular Treatment Centre, developing expertise in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of medical retinal conditions including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions.

Main duties of the job

This post is intended for applicants who are near the end of a postgraduate ophthalmology training, or practicing ophthalmologists with similar experience, who are looking to develop further their practical clinical expertise. This post will offer training and experience in the field of medical retina. We will provide cataract surgery training to interested candidates.

Main duties of the job:

  • Participate in specialist Medical Retina clinics and treatment services
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with retinal disease
  • Support intravitreal injection and imaging pathways
  • Contribute to cataract theatre sessions
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary Ophthalmology team
  • Participate in departmental teaching, audit, and service development activities
