An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Surgical Care Practitioner to join a friendly and dynamic team within the Urology department.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with significant acute care/surgical experience to commence training as a surgical care practitioner

You will be practising under the supervision of a Consultant Urologist as a trainee Surgical Care Practitioner within their designated directorate in order to provide patient-centred quality care.

The urology department at Castle Hill Hospital is a busy tertiary centre and is  staffed by 7 consultants, 6 specialist registrars , core and Foundation doctors and 8 specialist nurses. It provides a comprehensive urology service to the local population of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and provides specialist cancer surgery to a much wider geographical area including North Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire.

Ward 15 at Castle Hill is a dedicated urology ward with an adjacent day procedures unit where outpatient cystoscopies, urodynamics, bladder instillations and lithotripsy take place. There is also a smaller urological acute assessment unit on ward 12 where emergency cases are assessed and managed by a dedicated team.

Inpatient and day case surgery take place on the Castle Hill site and robotic surgery is delivered in a dedicated robotic theatre suite with 2 Da Vinci Xi platforms.

Main duties of the job

Supported by the Trust, you will develop your knowledge and skills in the management of a wide array of both urological and medical presentations and develop a high level of autonomy. You will also be required and supported to complete an MSc in Surgical Care Practice at Edge Hill University. .

Upon successful completion of the training programme as a Qualified SCP you will progress to AFC Band 8a.
