Job overview

We are pleased to announce that we will be enrolling two successful candidates on to the Trainee Sonographer Post Graduate programme at Kings College London (KCL) and Health Sciences University (HSU) in September 2025.  This is an exciting training opportunity to become a sonographer.  We are looking for one candidate to train in Vascular Ultrasound and one in Obstetric Ultrasound.

The trainee post is sponsored by Health Education England (HEE), to provide the opportunity to locally train enthusiastic healthcare staff to become sonographers.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are able to work as team and use constructive feedback to grow and enhance clinical skills.

Successful candidates (subject to qualifications) will be enrolled on to the post graduate degree course to commence in September 2025. Trainees will be expected to complete work-based, online, self-directed learning as outlined in the university prospectus. Attendance at university will be required monthly if attending KCL or HSU.  Trainee sonographers will be supported in the department at SaSH by our sonography team.

Main duties of the job

You will be working in East Surrey, Crawley and Horsham Hospital to undertake dedicated training lists.  Once you have gained confidence and have attained a certain level of independence, training lists will be adjusted to ensure you enhance your learning and work within scan time limits.  You will be expected to work within a multi-disciplinary team.  We are committed to undertaking our roles and responsibilities in training you.  You will be expected to undertake and pass your academic learning in order to supplement your clinical training.
