This is an exciting apprenticeship post, primarily based in the Centre Simulation Suite, which will combine communication, technical, IT and administrative skills.
You will be primarily required to help provide effective and efficient support to the Simulation Faculty. You can be expected to communicate with the Education & Development Team members and other facilitators, under the mentorship of the Learning and Simulation technologist, who is also based in the PGEC. In addition there will be activities outside the sim suite, such as supporting ‘in-situ’ simulation, which takes place in wards and other areas of the hospital, run by The Simulation Fellow.
You will undertake your apprenticeship with Hampshire Hospitals, who are delighted to be able to offer a Level 3 Apprenticeship aimed at providing the knowledge and skills required to develop your career in Simulation Based Education. This national programme will be delivered remotely over 18-24 months and includes specialty modules designed to give Simulation Technicians the theoretical, as well as practical, knowledge of their role and beyond.
The program offers 20% off the job study time, within normal working week.
Main duties of the job
- To support the facilitation of simulation-based education
- To support faculty and the service in the development, operation and review of simulation-based education
- To setup, maintain and troubleshoot the equipment, manikins, technology and models within the service
- To support the Education Directorate with simulation, technology enhanced learning, video/teleconference and training equipment and manikins to enable facilitation of education and training
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To setup and maintain the simulation suite, teaching rooms and equipment ready for education and training sessions
- To provide moulage, creation of props and modification of manikins, equipment and the environment to increase fidelity within simulation
- To promote excellent communication skills both verbally and written
- To provide administrative support to the Directorate, service and faculty/facilitators to ensure that accurate records are recorded, kept up-to-date and available for audit, reports and verification
- To support the faculty/facilitators to ensure the smooth running of sessions/courses
- To ensure that the Trust’s values are upheld and adhered to at all times
- To engage with the identified learning, training and development required for the role.
