Are you interested in providing evidence based treatment to common mental health problems? Are you looking for a new challenging year and to undertake some Post Graduate Training?
The opportunity has arisen for us to recruit two enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our expanding York and Selby NHS Talking Therapies Service (previously known as IAPT prior to the national rebranding).
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
The service is an integrated Step 2, Step 3 and counselling service covering York, Selby, Pocklington, Easingwold and Tadcaster geographical areas. We also have a dedicated Employment Advisory Team to support service users whilst within treatment.
In this role, you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking the PG Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions delivered by Sheffield University which commences in October 2025. This training post will equip you to provide Step 2 Guided Self Help Low Intensity Interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in primary care, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.
We pride ourselves on being an innovative Talking Therapy service, and as part of this have developed opportunities for our staff to take on the role of champions for a variety of populations such as perinatal, older adults, veterans and long-term conditions. These roles enable clinicians to develop their skills and experience in their areas of interest and assist in designing pathways of care for these populations. We are committed to facilitating continuing professional development and this is actively encouraged within our service.
In return, you will be expected to be flexible and provide out of hours clinics as required by service need and demonstrate a willingness to travel. York and Selby IAPT service currently operates Monday- Friday covering some evening working through 1:1 clinics or groups. We offer a blended approach including remote and face to face working. University learning will take place at Sheffield University via in person teaching.
Interview Process: Candidates that are successful at the service interview to be held in the week commencing 28th July does not guarantee a place on the course, and the candidate must be successful at the University interview (second stage interviews).
University Requirements:
You must be available to attend University Interview on 8th August 2025.
Candidates will be expected to complete some self directed study outside of their working hours in order to pass the course.
Candidates who are enrolled on another course which overlaps with the PWP training will not be permitted onto the PWP training due to University guidance.
Candidates who have ever been enrolled on a funded PWP course and failed previous will not be permitted to continue with the interview stage due to University Guidance.
