We are looking for an experienced radiographer with excellent clinical skills, to join our small, dynamic, friendly team within the lithotripsy unit in the urology centre.  We provide high quality care to patients that are referred for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) internally and from the south west London Urology network.

The role will initially start as a band 6 training post which will in turn be a band 7 once fully trained in lithotripsy and able to undertake their own lists independently. A band 7 radiographer role works as an autonomous practitioner with a caseload within a team structure. The post holder will be given the opportunity to take responsibility of the lithotripsy unit whilst supporting the service lead in developing the pathway to an extended service in the future. We are hoping to recruit a radiographer who can communicate well, can adapt to an ever-changing environment. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive in-house training and be well supported throughout.

Main duties of the job

• To perform ESWL (Lithotripsy) treatments on patients to a high Clinical standard, ensuring full compliance with the Unit SOP. •    To review pre-treatment images and assess stone location prior to treatment as well as check for contraindications to treatment. •    Perform Radiographic examinations, accurately locating and targeting the Stone with Shockwaves, to an agreed set of Treatment Protocols. •    Plan, organise and treat a worklist of patients The training will be supervised by experienced Lithotripsy radiographers as well as the Clinical Lead Urologist for the unit. The successful candidate will be expected to complete a Comprehensive Training Program learning ESWL treatments, basic nursing procedures relevant to the role, Image Interpretation and clinical documentation. They will be expected to complete a logbook of competencies in both Ureteric and Renal treatments. They will be fully supported throughout their training and follow a clear, structured training program.  On completion of training the Trainee will be signed off as competent by the Clinical Lead, Lead Radiographer. They will then progress to a Band 7 Advanced Practitioner in Lithotripsy and be expected to run their own Lithotripsy Treatment Clinic lists.
