Job overview

This is a training role within the NHS Talking Therapies Programme. The post-holder will work within Bedfordshire Talking Therapies service providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for one academic year. The course will start in September 2026.

Main duties of the job

This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of mild to moderate depression and anxiety-based presentations for which CBT has been demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The post holder will work in the service for three days of the week using the newly developed skills, whilst attending the training programme for the other two days. During training, post holders will be expected to attend one day per week at one of our base locations across Bedford Borough and Central Beds, and will also be required to work one late evening shift (Monday or Thursday, 12-8pm) per week. Following completion of training, an additional clinic day at an alternative community-based location in Bedford Borough and Central Beds will be introduced.
