Job summary

Main duties of the job

The Thoracic Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will:

Provide high quality patient care, delivery and maintaining standards in accordance with UK law, the NMC, and Trust guidelines, and able to meet the revalidation requirements

Have relevant knowledge to be able to assist with the co-ordination of staff training to ensure a high professional standard in all aspects of patient care

To effectively manage own time and that of junior staff and students in a busy environment

Excellent organisational, line management, interpersonal and leadership skills

Knowledge of clinical governance, policy, procedure and quality assurance frameworks

The post holder is responsible for working within the Lung cancer team to provide expert evidence-based practice to meet the holistic needs of patients.

They will have knowledge of thoracic cancer treatment pathways to advise and guide patients throughout the pathway.

The role will provide an interface between medical and nursing disciplines whilst developing and supporting nursing practice

Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team

Excellent communication skills and self-awareness are required for your own and others well-being
