We are looking for a skilled and experienced Therapy Technical Instructor to join our Early Supported Discharge Orthopaedics (ESDO) team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust., supporting qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

This post is full time 37.5hrs and you will be required to take part in the weekend rota/ 7 day service rota in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

This is a fixed term contract covering maternity leave. The contract will end on 29.11.26.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the development of Early Supported Discharge Orthopaedics (ESDO) team Therapy Services by supporting Therapists in the assessment and treatment of patients and the day-to-day running of the therapy environment in ESDO.

To accept patients referred by a Therapist, and carry as own patient caseload.  Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, make alterations (within protocols and scope of practice) to patient treatment programmes as required.

Work unsupervised regularly, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problems.

For a defined and delegated group of patients - to undertake the assessment of patients, using investigative and analytical skills.  To use clinical reasoning, and utilise a range of assessment and treatment skills and options to formulate treatment programmes.
