We require a Generic Therapy Assistant to work as part of the Orthopaedic team within the Therapy Services Department at Rotherham General Hospital. Your main responsibilities will be to assist with patient care on the Orthopaedic wards and to provide the administrative support to the team.
The inpatient department currently provides therapy to a 28 bedded trauma ward, 28 bedded elective unit, childrens ward, fracture clinic and day surgery. The team is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and existing support staff.
Our aim is to provide a high quality, efficient seven-day service to maximise peoples independence and function with the intention of facilitating safe and timely hospital discharge and rehabilitation.
Applicants should be excellent team workers and be able to demonstrate good communication skills. You must be physically capable of assisting patients with exercises, mobility and daily living activities.
The post is subject to Occupational Health Screening and Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure checking.
- To support the Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Support Workers in delivering patient care on the Elective and Trauma Orthopaedic Unit.
- To keep up to date with required competencies and skills within the role of therapy support worker.
- To provide administrative support within the team.
- To be able to order equipment for patients and ensure stock levels are adequate.
- To ensure that all appliances are stocked and reorder when required.
- To gather social information for patients to support the therapists in their assessments and treatments for patients on the Orthopaedic Unit.
- To participate in team events and support team members.
- To provide support with patient exercise programmes and mobility
- To work generically supporting all members of the team.
- To use initiative but also understand where guidance is required
