Job overview

Norfolk and Norwich Hospital is a leading teaching hospital with world-class facilities, and physiotherapy is playing an instrumental role in exciting developments in the Trust. Our patients rate us highly on quality of care and having friendly, approachable staff and we are looking for like- minded individuals to join us on this journey.

It is an exciting time to join our service with the Trust committed to becoming a designated Major Trauma Centre over the next 5 years and with the opening of a new Norfolk and Norwich Orthopaedic Centre in July 2024, transforming our elective care provision.

As a result our team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Therapy Assistant / Assistant Practitioner with experience of musculoskeletal conditions and/managing patients after orthopaedic surgery, to join our acute inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic team.

Hours of work: your weekday pattern will include long days (08:00-20:00), early (starting at 08:00) and late (ending at 20:00) shifts and we will require your ability to be flexible to meet service needs.

You will fulfill 7-day working requirements through our Orthopaedic weekend rosters + bank holiday roster.

Interviews will take place on 10th June 2026. Candidates will need to be available for face-to-face interviews we are unable to offer virtual.

Main duties of the job

As the post holder, you will:

  • work with minimal supervision to undertake a variety of clinical tasks to support the delivery of therapy to patients.
  • have delegated responsibility for a specified clinical area and assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of patients, determine problems and treatment indicated and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Work with minimal direction, undertaking a variety of non-clinical tasks to support the Therapy service. To be delegated training responsibilities to other staff groups.
  • have a shared responsibility for departmental tasks to ensure the effective running of the Therapy Service.

Following training the post holder is to assist in the management/treatment of patients in the Trust under the instruction of the Therapists as appropriate.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.

We deliver services from 8:00 – 20:00 and the postholder must be flexible to work early, late and long day shifts. Post holder will be required to commit to 7 day working pattern. A roster is in place for weekend and bank holiday shifts.
