An exciting  opportunity to combine working in the radiotherapy department with research!

Radiotherapy clinical trials are vital for improving patient outcomes. We are looking for  experienced therapeutic radiographers to join the late phase team where you will have the opportunity to undertake radiotherapy clinical trials. The research team are a small team who strive to ensure that research is considered a treatment option for all eligible patients and work closely with clinical teams and within patients’ clinical pathways to ensure that research opportunities are expanding. This is a split role working equally between the research team and the radiotherapy department . This opportunity will enable you to maintain your already established clinical skills while gaining new skills within the research team.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the assessment of new proposed clinical trial protocols for their feasibility, including resource implications for the radiotherapy department and Trust.
  • To act as a research specialist in the co-ordination of radiotherapy pathways in clinical trials.
  • To act as an initial point of contact for patients participating in delegated radiotherapy trials
  • To contribute to the maintenance of clinical trials data collection systems and completion of case report forms. Ensure accurate recording of toxicities and adverse events.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor the care of patients in clinical trials by participating in the identification of potential trial participants.
  • Undertake clinical work in both the treatment and pre-treatment sections of the radiotherapy department 40% of the time and use your knowledge and experience of clinical research to support Radiographers to enhance and advance research aims.
  • Provide all aspects of patient care as required depending on rostered work area, as per local rules and in keeping with professional code of conduct.
  • Work in collaboration with the multi-professional and multi-disciplinary team to influence and plan the patient care pathway with respect to patients participating in clinical trials.
