Job overview

As a part of the Halton Band 6 team, you will provide the highest standard of care. You will have direct management responsibility including; manging your own team, PDR’s, rostering and allocations and the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of elective perioperative care programs. You will be able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice, be preferably ALS trained or be prepared to undertake the course and have a passion for teaching and mentoring as we are a teaching hospital.

You will also work across site at Warrington Hospital as service needs require, where in addition to our Surgical Specialties; we support Children’s surgery and patients who require enhanced clinical support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The purpose of this post is to lead a team of theatre practitioners providing skilled assistance in the  Operating Department. To care for specified equipment relevant to their skills. The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and  evaluation of perioperative care and is designated to take charge of the operating theatre and the Theatre  Department in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.  The post holder will adhere to Trust policies, be informed by procedural guidelines, and governed by their code of professional conduct. This post involves communicating confidential medical data throughout the perioperative period to ensure  all 8 steps of safer surgery are adhered to Due to the dynamic nature of the perioperative area, the post holder will be required to coordinate,  organise, and prioritise operating lists in liaison with surgeons and anaesthetists. They will report to the  Theatre Manager  The Team Leader will be responsible for acting in such a manner as to uphold and enhance the good  standard and reputation of the trust.
