Band 6 Theatre Team Leader – Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery

36 hours per week | Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Operating Theatres for a motivated and experienced Band 6 Theatre Team Leader to join our Trauma & Orthopaedic Theatre team

This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy, highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership while delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care for patients undergoing Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery.

The successful candidate will be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and will have substantial recent theatre experience. You would bring current, relevant scrub experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics, with a strong working knowledge of surgical techniques, instrumentation and specialist equipment.

We are looking for a confident, organised and approachable practitioner who can lead by example, promote best practice and contribute positively to service delivery and team culture

Main duties of the job

Some of the duties include:

Provide effective clinical and operational leadership to staff during each shift.  Support the Specialty Manager, Theatre Manager and Matron for Theatres, Anaesthetics, Critical  Care and Pain in the development and delivery of services, with specific responsibility for Trauma  and Orthopaedic Theatres.  Coordinate perioperative activity with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective theatre flow  and continuity of patient care, including out-of-hours provision.  Act as a professional role model, promoting AfPP values, a positive safety culture and effective  communication.  Promote human factors awareness, situational awareness and professional challenge within the  perioperative environment.
