Our Day Surgery team has a great deal of experience in delivering the highest quality care, and are delighted to say we are expanding with new theatres and increased secondary  recovery.  As part of our growth, we are recruiting for an additional four  registered Theatre Practitioners (either NMC or AHP Registered).

The majority of the surgery performed at Torbay and South Devon is day case surgery, which is when people come to hospital, have their surgery and return home on the same day.

Our Day Surgery Unit treats over 9,000 people a year, and has been open since 1995. It is a really welcoming and warm environment, and we see both adults and children.

Joining our team, you would be expected to be an advocate for the Trust who put patient care as a priority and high quality patient focused care at the fore front of all we do. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care for patients in the perioperative stage of their care.

We are looking for staff with experience in scrub and anaesthetics   #Caretojoinus.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient focused care
  • To provide and maintain a safe environment for all patients attending theatres
  • To co-ordinate and carry out perioperative care with minimal supervision, acting as a role model and working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that the arrival and departure of patients in the theatre suite, is in accordance with policy. Advise the Theatre Coordinator of proposed changes in the operating list, to ensure that patient safety and an efficient safe service is maintained
  • To develop effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, relatives and other nursing staff to ensure they receive clear and accurate information
  • Highly developed physical/clinical skills where accuracy is important
  • Moving and manual handling of patients and equipment
  • Organisational and leadership skills
