The post is suitable for either an ODP or Nurse with experience in both anaesthetic and recovery areas.

Main duties of the job

Accountable within the theatre team to ensure that the standard of patient care is of a high level, quality being of prime importance. To adhere to and practice within the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council’s standards. Ensure adherence to agreed Trust policies.

The position is primarily a theatre anaesthetic and recovery practitioner although some rotation and flexibility will be required to meet service needs. The post holder will be expected to participate in internal rotation, weekend, unsocial hours and on call duties.

The post holder will act be part of a clinical team provided to ensure that clinical care of patients and others using the service receive an efficient and quality service. The post offers the opportunity to further develop clinical and non-clinical skills within the team. They will also be encouraged to obtain and maintain ILS and PILS compliance. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A. MANAGING ACTIVITIES

A1. Maintain activities to meet requirements.

• Ensure all policies/protocols/standards are upheld.
• Maintain Health and Safety for all staff, patients, visitors, and members of the multi-disciplinary team following Trust policy.
• Adhere to the Control of Infection policy.
• Attend yearly updates for all mandatory training.

• Report and document accidents, incidents, and losses.

• Be accountable within the team for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, maintaining agreed standards and ensuring patient satisfaction.

• Take part in developments and trials of new ideas and methods within the Unit.
• Keep abreast of clinical and nursing developments within allocated area.
