University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (working in partnership with North Bristol NHS Trust) is the designated Principal Treatment Centre (PTC) for Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) with cancer in the south west of England. The PTC oversees the delivery of specialist malignant haematology and oncology care along with the provision of emotional, social and practical support to young people diagnosed with cancer between 16 and 24 years.
The award winning multi-disciplinary TYA team includes medics, TYA specialist nurses, a youth support co-ordinator, and a Young Lives Versus Cancer social worker amongst others, who are all committed to providing developmentally-appropriate care. They are all based at the PTC and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Beyond this, the Trust has an ongoing commitment to promoting wellbeing amongst staff. Therefore we have a dedicated Wellbeing Lead for the division, weekly psychology ‘checking in’ sessions.

Post qualified acute care experience and experience within either adult cancer care or children & young people’s cancer services, would be an advantage but not essential. You will need to be competent in intravenous therapy, demonstrate a strong focus on patient and family care. Competence in administering Systemic Anticancer Therapies (SACT) is desired but not essential.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to develop their existing knowledge of cancer care through working within the specialist team, access to training including post graduate courses, and working with the ward based education facilitator.
