Job overview

It is an exciting time in Radiopharmacy at Cheltenham General Hospital, as we have financial backing to be able to restructure and expand the Radiopharmacy team.

Working hours Monday to Friday 0730-1530 hours

The Radiopharmacy is part of the wider Nuclear Medicine team. This is an interesting and varied role providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Radiopharmacy, providing pharmaceuticals to Nuclear Medicine imaging departments.

The proposed interview date is: 22nd August

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team and support the existing staff within the  Radiopharmacy and Nuclear Medicine Therapy.

The post holder will be required to work in an aseptic clean room with pharmaceutical isolators, following Standard Operating Procedures according to current Good Manufacturing Practices. The post holder will also be required to assist in the resetting of Iodine Treatment rooms.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with a Pharmacy, or Nuclear Medicine background who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Job purpose is:

To carry out a range of technical and clerical tasks, including

- Dispensing, labelling, packing and QC of radiopharmaceuticals

- Cleaning of the Radiopharmacy suite, including specialist equipment

- Monitoring of the environment using physical and microbiological methods

- Contributing to the Radiopharmacy Quality Assurance system to ensure the smooth running of the Radiopharmacy.

- Support for Nuclear Medicine Therapy

- The Post Holder will be required:

- To use a range of radiopharmacy equipment safely and carry out all activities in accordance with the unit's standard operating procedures.

- To comply with Ionising Radiation Regulation 2017 (IRR17), Quality assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS) and Environmental Permitting Regulation 2016 (EPR)

- To be designated a Radiation Classified Worker.
