Job overview

Technical Instructor

30 hours per week (Temporary Contract for 12 months)

This is an exciting opportunity to be a Technical Instructor within the Community Neuro Rehab Team (CNRT) for Tameside & Glossop.

CNRT provides therapy to patients that have had an acquired neurological diagnosis (such as stroke, Parkinson's, MS and brain injury).  We offer community based assessment and treatments within a variety of settings including the home, group, clinic, or the wider community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Technical Instructor with experience in neurological rehabilitation to provide support to our Speech and Language team.

The individual will work alongside other multidisciplinary staff members to ensure high standards of service delivery for the patients of Tameside & Glossop.

As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will understand the benefits to be gained from a team approach, where each team member’s contribution is valued and where experience is shared.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide therapy programmes as delegated by the Speech and Language therapists, this may also include therapy delivery for other members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Speech and Language therapists, and with all multi-disciplinary team members and for giving/receiving information to relevant staff. This includes written and verbal communication.
  • To deal with and take responsibility for enquiries from patients, relatives, public and staff, both in person and by telephone.
  • To complete verbal or written reports on patients’ progress both to appropriate therapy staff and to other multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Organise and plan own day to day workload, to meet the job role.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other internal and external agencies as directed by the Speech and Language therapist or other members of the therapy team.
