An exciting opening has arisen in the ABUHB Occupational Therapy (OT) service for a Team lead Occupational Therapist, who is self-motivated, proactive, and able to actively engage in developing care pathways and new ways of working for the delivery of the OT service. All applicants will be expected to have strong clinical and decision-making skills in order to demonstrate a depth and breadth of ability in working with people with high clinical frailty scores.

You will need excellent communication skills, have initiative and a flexible approach to work. You must be confident and effective in the use of ensuring the delivery of OT interventions, to ensure they are carried out in the most appropriate setting for the person admitted to hospital. This will ensure and evidence that these interventions meet the person’s needs and organisation’s expectations of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Based in the Royal Gwent Hospital and aligned to the in-patient community bedded wards, but working across the organisation’s inpatient settings, you will undertake a clinical leadership and operational role. You will support and develop the delivery of occupational therapy interventions, whilst carrying a varied caseload of people who have been admitted to hospital.

Working in collaboration with the Professional Clinical Lead, the post holder will lead and influence the ongoing development of OT provision within clinical areas, with a focus on the rehabilitation and discharge to assess and recover service model.
