Job overview

This RCOG-accredited subspecialty training programme represents an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious candidate to join the Gynaecological Oncology department at UCLH, a premier tertiary referral centre.

Main duties of the job

This is a training post, and the priority will be to develop the surgical and clinical skills required for successful completion of the RCOG subspecialty training programme.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend and prepare for theatre lists (average 5 three sessions theatre lists/ week), manage outpatient work, lead ward rounds, prepare for the MDT meeting, liaise across specialties and with the regional network, and organise the junior team rota. As such, a high level of leadership, management and organisational skills will be necessary for this post.

Candidates will be expected to have significant experience of working in a gynaecological oncology department, with knowledge of treatment pathways and evidence-based cancer management and demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients.

Level of surgical experience (both open surgery and minimal access) is expected to be high to be able to progress at the expected standard for this competitive programme. Alongside their gynae oncology work, the candidate will undertake work with allied specialties to supplement their learning.

The candidate will be expected to lead service improvement, audit and research work, and risk management work and would therefore be expected to have high levels of written and verbal communication skills for presented work.
