TRAINING OPPORTUNITY for Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) - SCHOOL NURSING
Fixed Term contract/secondment opportunity for 12 months to commence September 2025

Applicants must have a live registration on either the first or second part of the NMC register and be able to demonstrate 120 credits at level 1 and level 2. For BSc (Hons), applicants will require 120 higher education credits at Level 2 or above and for PG Dip, applicants will require a classified honours degree at 2:2 or above either in nursing or a health related subject.
You should also meet home student requirements (minimum 3 years residency in the UK) to be eligible for sponsorship.
An exciting opportunity has arisen with Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust for sponsorship of NMC registered practitioners to undertake the BSc (Hons) / Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) School Nursing. This will lead to registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The aim of the programme is to prepare SCPHNs with the knowledge & skills to provide leadership and innovation in community health. The wider goals are to improve population health, in particular the health of children and families, and to prevent illness. SCPHNs will have the community capacity building skills to support the development of community based health and wellbeing services.
Specialist Community Public Health Nursing is a one year full-time course combining taught modules at the University of the West of England (Bristol) and a clinical placement within one of 6 localities in Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be required to be flexible and able to travel anywhere within the county.

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module “Preceptorship for Healthcare” (AP7026).
Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme
