Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a collaborative and system-minded clinician to lead on the next phase of UCLH’s strategy for integrated and population health. This is a brand-new role, initially for 12 months, which will require an individual with exceptional leadership skills and significant expertise in partnership working and integrated health and care.

Following UCLH’s joint appointment alongside partner organisations as the integrator for Camden and Islington, strategic clinical leadership is required to help drive our emerging programmes of work on neighbourhood health and ‘left shift’. Working with colleagues within and outside UCLH, the Strategic Clinical Director will also take a leading role in shaping our Trust-wide integration and population health priorities, aligned with our refreshed organisational strategy.

If you are an experienced consultant working within UCLH or an experienced GP working within our wider system with a passion for working with partners to improve the health of our local population and ensure that the best care is delivered in the right place, we want to hear from you.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a stakeholder panel, followed by a formal interview if successful at stakeholder stage. Preliminary dates for these are as follows:

Stakeholder panel:

11am – 1pm Wednesday 4 March

9am – 11am Friday 6 March

Interviews: 1.30 – 5pm Tuesday 10 March

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clinical leadership to UCLH’s neighbourhood health delivery programmes in Camden and Islington, as well as informing the Trust’s approach to strategic integration and ‘left shift’.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Strategy, the Strategic Clinical Director (SCD) is expected to ensure that the neighbourhood health programmes have patient safety, quality of care and clinical outcomes at their centre.

The SCD will be responsible for providing strategic clinical leadership and vision to enable the Trust to meet its objectives as an integrator organisation and anchor institution for our local poplation. Central to this role is effective relationship-building and communication with our key system partners and clinicians across NCL, to build a ‘coalition of the willing’.
