
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sterile Services Department as a Trainee Sterile Services Technician (Band 2). This is a key role supporting the safe and effective decontamination, inspection, packing, and sterilisation of medical devices used across the Trust, including surgical instruments, endoscopy equipment, and specialist items. You will also support Endoscopy Decontamination services and Mattress Decontamination processes, contributing to maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control across multiple clinical areas. As a trainee, full training and support will be provided, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress within the department.

Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and pack surgical instruments and medical devices Assist in Endoscopy Decontamination, ensuring safe processing of flexible endoscopes in line with national guidance Support Mattress Decontamination processes, ensuring equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and safe for patient use Operate decontamination equipment, including washer disinfectors, sterilizers, and specialised endoscopy equipment
Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with Trust policies, national decontamination standards, and quality requirements
Maintain accurate records and tracking documentation Work as part of a team to meet service demands and turnaround times Adhere to strict infection prevention, health & safety, and compliance requirements
Compliance with ISO 13485:2016 (UK MDR 2002) Compliance with Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) guidelines (e.g. HTM 01-01, HTM 01-06) Adherence to infection prevention and control standards
Maintaining traceability and accurate documentation at all times, Supporting departmental audits and quality assurance processes Commitment to continuous improvement and safe practice
