Job overview

Due to an expansion of our bed capacity, we are currently offering 3 Registered Nurse substantive positions on Lady Skinner Ward 5 West. We are a 20-bedded Rehabilitation, Medical Unit and OPRAC at Charing Cross Hospital. Our ward specialises in caring for patients with rehabilitation needs and complex medical conditions. Our OPRAC unit is a one stop shop to prevent admissions to hospital. Patients have scans, X-Rays, see medics and often have infusions. We work closely with the all medical/surgical wards and discharge teams to ensure safe, effective, and team-led patient care.

We are seeking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses to join our vibrant team. You’ll be supported by a wealth of clinical and administrative experience, including 1:1 coaching, regular in-house training, and a strong multidisciplinary team. Our busy yet supportive environment is ideal for developing new skills and building on existing ones.

What we offer:

  • Career development opportunities
  • Flexible working arrangements if possible
  • Wellbeing support
  • Staff recognition schemes

Optional benefits including cycle-to-work and car lease schemes, season ticket loans, and access to onsite leisure facilities

This is a fantastic opportunity for both newly qualified and experienced nurses who want to broaden their knowledge and experience in general medicine.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality, effective, and individualised care to all patients ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met.
  • Contribute to the continuous monitoring, maintenance and improvement of clinical care standards within the unit.
  • Independently assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using evidence-based practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Support the leadership and coordination of the nursing team, assisting in the supervision and performance monitoring of junior staff to maintain high standards of care delivery.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to concerns or complaints raised by patients, relatives and carers, taking appropriate action and escalating issues as necessary to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with legal, professional and organisational standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training to maintain competence and support service improvement.
