We are delighted to offer a position within our Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team for an enthusiastic and motivated band 3 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.

The role will focus on carrying out programmes for adults who have acquired Communication and or Eating/Drinking/Swallowing Difficulties and have been devised by Speech and Language Therapists.

You will work within a small and friendly adult team within the South of Powys.

You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic with an ability to work independently but also work well within a team.

Our team is friendly and supportive, and we are committed to regularly review our service delivery. We provide regular clinical supervision, CPD opportunities and appraisal system.

The base for this post will be Brecon.

Main duties of the job

You will work within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist undertaking the following tasks:

  • Delivering programmes of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of patients.
  • Delivering interventions to support patients to optimise their communication, eating/drinking and swallowing skills.
  • To work with patients, carers, and colleagues to implement therapy goals as part of Speech and Language Therapy
  • Assist with specified duties within the Speech and Language Therapy Department
  • Work across the locality in a variety of settings.
  • Support the departmental training delivery plan
  • To work independently under the guidance of the qualified Speech and Language Therapy staff and actively participate in the professional development of self.

The post holder will need to be confident, motivated, responsive, supportive and highly organised with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
