This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and ambitious Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly, supportive team of allied health professionals working to support adults with a learning disability in Salford.

The postholder will also work alongside our integrated team of Learning Disability Nurses, Social Workers, and Community Assessment Officers, and a team of Psychologists and Art Psychotherapists . The successful candidate will be committed to multi-disciplinary working for the holistic benefit of the people we support.

Main duties of the job

  • Using evidence-based practice, you will assess and diagnose conditions, plan and implement Speech and Language Therapy programmes of care and treatment, and discharge appropriately.
  • Working in partnership with people with a Learning Disability, their families, and our professional support providers; you will monitor and evaluate programmes of care delivered by others according to your professional recommendations.
  • You will flex, adapt, and adjust your practice to meet the person's circumstances with regard for medical, cultural, linguistic and sociological and physiological factors.
  • You will provide clinical advice regarding the support of people with communication difficulties and swallowing difficulties and liaise with professional colleagues, thus directly contributing to wider Care Act assessment and support planning.
  • You will independently attend and contribute to a variety of multi-disciplinary meetings including hospital discharge planning meetings, safeguarding adult at risk meetings, and mental health act meetings.
