Main duties of the job

We are looking for a part-time (8 PA) Specialty Doctor in Neonatology working at the Royal Derby Hospital. This post will be based on the Neonatal Unit RDH and contribute to the Tier 2 rota Out of Hours covering Neonates.

We are looking for a strong commitment from the appointee to the Department and involvement with education and research activities is expected. The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a wider multidisciplinary team and will be required to contribute to the ongoing development of the Neonatal Service at University Hospital Derby and Burton.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of four years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) of which at least two will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in the relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent specialty clinical experience and competencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital. This statutory duty is in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with the post

Finally, the post holder is expected to:

Observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of UHDB together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations

Observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff.

Be responsible, with management support, for own personal development & learning and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues by attending regional CEWT meetings (2 out of 4 per year), monthly joint neurology clinics, and monthly Epilepsy peer review meetings.
