Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor post to provide service level cover in the Ear, Nose and Throat department. Successful candidates will complement the skills of the department and work flexibly within the team across the Norfolk and Waveney combined Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) service.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

The clinical duties of this post will include general ENT, to support the needs of the ENT department, to assist the existing full-time consultants, and supporting staff, to provide a comprehensive ENT service to the Trust.
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. There is a good culture of collaboration between the NNUH and JPUH and staff are expected to continue to honour this commitment on appointment. The post-holder will be expected to provide clinical duties at both hospitals, currently 1 day a week at JPUH and 4 days of the week at NNUH. The precise timetable may be subject to change in accordance with the requirements of the departments.
The post holder is expected to provide care to Ear, Nose and Throat patients as well as take part in the out-of-hour Tier 2 on-call service. The candidate will be part of a team providing management of ENT elective and non-elective care. The duties will include ward rounds, emergency care, elective outpatient clinics and elective operating, as well as participation in 2nd on-call rota. Currently all acute/emergency ENT admissions are to the NNUH, with only day time cover at JPUH. Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a teaching hospital, and the post-holder will be expected participate in undergraduate teaching to medical students.
All employees, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal, and risk management.
